Courses

This month we have seen some incredible pieces created in copper foil and mosaics. In May we are changing pace and focusing on fusing and slumping. There are still tickets left to the following courses.

Glass Fusing and Slumping
9am-4pm, 15 May
This sought after course is designed to introduce the basic principles of glass firing and offering an opportunity to be instructed by Ian.

Students will be educated on essential techniques including a large variety of functional information; such as the best products to obtain professional results and scientific principles in glass fusing. You will be taught the intricacies of firing schedules so that you can confidently execute your own works of art. Ian Dixon’s experience with Art Glass will provide students with a well-informed initiation into the exciting world of Glass Fusing!  This class will suit the complete beginner as well as an opportunity to learn more for the novice glass worker.

Woven Textile Designs
Saturdays, 5 June & 12 June
Join us to create beautiful woven textile designs in glass.  This very effective technique is taught over a two day course which will cover design, colour selection, cutting and layout. Your design will then be slumped so that you have two stunning, finished pieces to take home.  The only skills requirement is that you can confidently cut glass, Ian will guide you through the rest.

The course will run over two Saturdays –

Day one (9.30am – approx 12.30pm) will cover colour selection, lay up of glass and first firing.

Day two (9.30am – approx 3.30pm) will cover strip cutting, lay up of pattern possibilities and second firing.
